Do It

James thought he was writing lyrics for a pretty vanilla and formulaic rock song with not much going for it but a catchy hook. Bob wouldn't hear of that, and before long, Bob had added some lyrics and turned this song inside out into a breezy number with some rap lyrics. What the what? This turned into a real lyrical collaboration between James and Bob, and we hope you find the message, arrangement and performance to be pleasing, positive and inspiring.

I Don't Know Where The Sunset Goes

James wrote the lyrics for "I Don't Know Where The Sunset Goes" while watching the sun set from his car window as he contemplated life on one of his frequent trips between Chicago and St Louis. He envisioned it as a howling, growling Black Keys-esque sort of song. Bob uncovered a gentler side to the song and settled on a dreamy, sweet musical arrangement after shuffling some lyrics around. We tried something a little bit different on the vocals as both Bob and Alan are featured. Bob performs the song while Alan chips in with some vocals, percussion and an outstanding final mix.

Black & Blue

James wrote the lyrics for "Black & Blue" as an upbeat rockabilly song, but who listens to rockabilly anymore? Bob wisely arranged the music as more of a bluesy, jazzy rock song to appeal to a broader base. We hope that's you! Bob performs the song while Alan provided a bass guitar track, percussion and final mix.

Since You've Been Gone

James wrote the lyrics for "Since You've Been Gone" after a dear friend passed away. He originally imagined the song as a slow, soulful tune. Bob arranged the music in an upbeat style that provided a nice counter-balance to the somewhat somber lyrics. Bob performs the song while Alan provided the percussion, cello and final mix.
